Inherited a record collection?

You do not need to be a vinyl expert to make a good start. Keep the collection together, take your time and gather the basics before deciding what to sell.

01

Keep the records and sleeves together

Store records upright in a dry room, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep sleeves, inserts and any notes with the records. Avoid stacking heavy piles flat or putting boxes in damp storage.

02

Look before you sort or discard

A mixed collection can contain different formats and editions. Do not assume an unfamiliar artist or old sleeve is worthless. If there are records you want to keep for sentimental reasons, set those aside first.

03

Gather a simple overview

Estimate the collection size, note a few artists and take some photographs. Tell the buyer where the collection is and whether you know anything about its condition or storage. It is fine if you cannot identify every record.

04

Take the time you need

Decide whether to keep some records, sell the whole collection or explore individual sales. Ask for a clear explanation of the offer, payment and handover. There is no obligation to accept an offer from us.
